That’s so cool that Madison [Cory’s sister] got her Patriarchal Blessing! It’s such a privilege for members of the church to be able to receive a personalized road map of their lives straight from God!!! I was actually thinking a lot about this last week. I think a lot of members in the church are disillusioned that once they get to a certain point in the church (be it baptism, baptisms for the dead, a patriarchal blessing, or even an endowment) they think they have reached the end of the road and the gospel has nothing more to offer them. Oh, how misled these people are. As members we have the glorious opportunity to always learn more. WE CAN NEVER KNOW IT ALL! No matter how many times we read the Book of Mormon we will always learn more things. Why? It’s the same book, the same words, the same seemingly insurmountable journey through 2 Nephi — how can we learn more each time? The answer is simple: because we believe in personal revelation. The Brethren have spoken a lot about things that separate our church from all the other churches on the earth and one of the main things is that we know God can speak to us through the power of the Holy Ghost! There’s a less active man in the branch who I just love to death. He’s awesome. He went to the Madrid temple and did baptisms a couple of times and has been a member for over 10 years, but now he’s lost his drive to live the gospel because he doesn’t understand that we’re always learning. Madison took another step in the gospel by getting her patriarchal blessing, but there’s so much more in store for her in the future.
Hope everyone quits getting sick back home. My companion has been sick for the past few days so we’ve been in the house and it’s making me go crazy!!! I already did TONS of house cleaning work in between my studies and spent hours re-organizing the área book! Hopefully he will feel better soon.
Was there any cool family Christmas present this year? (I know you guys all forgot about Christmas already, but I’m always uninformed on the mission.) Speaking of being uninformed, we showed up for Correlation an hour before church on Sunday like normal and no one showed up! An hour later the Branch President came in, asked us what we were doing just sitting there, realized that no one had told us that correlation had been canceled and said, “You guys receive revelation, you showed have known it was cancelled.” Seriously though, this is just the life of a missionary…..Nobody tells us anything….
Also, we found out that in July the Portugal Lisbon Mission will split again back into 2 MISSIONS–The Portugal Lisbon Mission and The Portugal Porto Mission. Also, both Mission Presidents will be Brazilians. Isn’t that exciting!!! I wonder which mission I will be in!!!!
Hope everyone has a great week. Good luck with school, Mother. I pray for you every day!
